Thank You Deanna
& Vince!
Thank you cat

When the news of this assault hit the newspapers and the forums we had many offers of help and even accommodation. Thank you ALL so much for your generous offers.

By the time the news broke my friends Deanna and Vince were already there. They came to see me every day in hospital. They saved me from the hospital food and had the wits to take photos of my injuries.

I can't thank you two enough!

You then took me in to your home until I was well enough to fly back to the UK.
Without your help Michaela or my Mother would have had to have been on the first flight out to care for me.
You saved us so much both financially and emotionally. We will be forever grateful to you both and will always help you in your troubles in any way we can.
Thanks again.

Love Conor (& Michaela)

5th March 2008: Last week I saw a Neurologist about my dizzy spells. His early diagnosis from testing my balance was that I am suffering from a Concussive Vestibulopathy. This occurs when there is damage to the balance portions of the inner ear. I had a huge lump under my left ear in hospital. Last Thursday I had a lengthy MRI. I will see the Neurologist again this week for the results.

6th May 2008: Due to a balance problem within my inner ear I have been unable to exercise since my attack. On Friday I am going to see an Audio Vestibular Physician.

13th May 2008: Recently when asked how I am I have always joked that “because of the dizziness I can’t do a double back flip on a high balance beam anymore.” It had never really set in what these thugs had done. Last Friday it was explained to me that I have Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo (BPPV) caused by the stamping to my head. (Bupa: please pass the bill on to KarayAnus)

The local Police in Cyprus had without informing me reduced Grievous Bodily Harm to a charge of Actual Bodily Harm. I had phoned the investigating officer 3 weeks after the assault still complaining of dizziness. He informed me of the penal code and that amongst other things if I had “cut my finger” then it would have been Grievous. He was busy and encouraged me to write my letters of complaint. He also refused to charge them over the robbery of my phone and the robbery of the memory card from my mini cam that recorded the incident. That evidence escaped into the crowd despite my pleas to the police on scene. With a face full of blood in the centre of Frenaros, I was told to shut up and stand by the police car while they chatted to the thugs.

I’m now reliably informed that the GBH charge will be back on but I’ve been reliably informed before. I have found out that to date there has been no indictments (formal accusation of having committed a criminal offense).
This was my second assault caught on camera and history is repeating itself. I will not rest till the criminals are behind bars. This is now a fight for my European Human Rights.

Do you think there is a justice system for foreigners in Cyprus?
